Origins of Lao Ban Soya Beancurd

“Lao Ban” Soya Beancurd began in in 2007 as a hawker stall in Old Airport Food Centre. The chilled beancurd storm – which Lao Ban is famous for – really took off in 2009, when back then “Lao Ban”, the creator our chilled beancurd, came up with the idea for a soy dessert that was more pudding-like in consistency, as compared to the traditional soy beancurd dessert that was served in sugar syrup.

The beancurd pudding was a runaway hit, and became a food fad that exploded all over Singapore – one that has started to become a staple dessert option today in the minds of Singaporeans when it comes to the idea of local desserts.

Since then, we have grown from a humble small shop selling desserts, to one of the leading chains for soya bean food & beverages in Singapore today. With more than 16 outlets located islandwide, Lao Ban offers a variety of soya bean drinks and snacks. This is a story of a humble traditional dessert, that with some creativity added in, has grown to be part of Singaporean’s food culture.



Xiao Ban Café – A New Beginning

Xiao Ban Cafe was started in 2013, as a café-concept brand extension to our highly popular local brand, Lao Ban Soya Beancurd. In addition to offering the famous chilled beancurd known and loved by Singaporeans, Xiao Ban (which literally means “Small Buddy”) also introduced a series of new exciting and innovative soya bean related products, which are fast gaining popularity among the younger generation. With years of experience in the business of producing fresh and delectable product offerings with rich nutritional value, Xiaoban is set to win the hearts of consumers.

“Delighting your palates” is our team’s mantra, and we work on this daily to bring you new tastes and ways of enjoying soya bean. We believe that everyone deserves happiness and that our food delivers those emotions through simple moments of pleasure.
